Derby County have been awarded tier 2 Regional Talent Club licence to further develop the highly successful Girls Centre of Excellence.

The licence, which is funded nationally by the FA, will see the Derby County Community Trust deliver an elite football programme for girls aged U10, U12, U14 and U16.

The award will see the Girls Centre of Excellence, which has been running for 7 years, convert into a Regional Talent Club.

The centre already has a proven track record of developing players into England Talent Camps, England Squads, Derby County Ladies and Womens Super League Clubs.

The talent clubs running throughout England are an integral part of the FA’s female player development pathway with youth international players selected from under 14 and 16 age groups. The programme is the pinnacle playing opportunity for players at under 10, 12, 14 and 16.

The “Philosophy” of the club is to disseminate technical, tactical and theoretical information to each player stimulating the players learning. The coaching programme encompasses the principles of Long Term Player Development (LTPD) as set out in the FA LTPD introductory guide for Women and Girls’ football.
